Narrative: Welcome to Insights on Healing Podcast. Our Episode title is, Why you should wait on God. You will learn that blessings come in God’s timing.
I am Joan M. Blake, an author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing Podcast includes the reading of scripture, praying, reading from one of my books, or interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.
The purpose of this podcast is to provide content which brings emotional healing and restoration to mothers who have had a difficult past and are currently experiencing difficulties. A focal point of this podcast is reflecting on scripture verses and praying for my audience. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for.
- Waiting on God is critical part of your life and faith. I have been waiting on God for healing of my daughter and I believe that God will heal my daughter. I know that God is doing something new in my life such as building up my faith and teaching me how much he loves me and how much I need to depend on him in my l
- What Does Waiting on God Mean?
Waiting on God means trusting in God’s timing, relying and believing on his promises, and actively seeking God’s will while maintaining hope and patience. This means that you do not sit back and wait on God, no, you pray, obey and prepare for God’s healing or position yourself for what God is going to do in your life or in the life of your loved one. For example, when you plant a seed, you have to wait for the seed to grow and mature into a plant, but in the mean time you water the ground, and put fertilizer in the ground so that the plant grow strong.
- Let us look at some bible verses on waiting on God
Isaiah 40:31
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 tells us that we shall renew our strength and that we will run and not be weary; we will walk and not faint.
Psalm 27:14 states 14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. We need to be courageous to get the strength that we need.
Lamentations 3:25-26: 25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. Waiting for God brings on goodness of God.
Psalm 37:7: 7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Do not be envious of others who seem to prosper; simply wait on the Lord and wait patiently for Him.
- Reflection Question: How can you apply these verses to their lives?
4. Examples of Waiting on God in the Bible
a. Abraham and Sarah (Genesis 15:1-6; Genesis 21:1-7)
Abraham and Sarah waited 25 years for God’s promise of a son. Even when they doubted and took matters into their own hands (Hagar and Ishmael), God’s promise was ultimately fulfilled in His timing.
For you: Trust that God’s promises will be fulfilled, even if the wait seems long.
b. Joseph (Genesis 37; Genesis 39–41)
Joseph waited years in slavery and prison before God elevated him to a position of power.
The trials Joseph faced during his waiting period prepared him for his God-given purpose.
For You: Waiting often refines us for the roles God has planned.
c. David (1 Samuel 16; 2 Samuel 5:1-5)
Anointed as a young man, David waited years to become king, enduring persecution and hardship from Saul.
For You. David showed faith and obedience, refusing to take shortcuts to God’s plan.Avoid taking matters into your own hands; trust God’s process.
Summary of what to do:
- Stop thinking of fear of the unknown
- Remember waiting on God builds character, strengthens faith, and aligns them with God’s purpose.
- Pray, meditate on scripture, stay active on faith, surround yourself with a community of believers, thank God for small steps
Let’s pray:
Father, my listeners and I come before you because you are a mighty God, you know all things and you have the power to change our lives. We wait on you because you are faithful, a God who keeps your promises and you promise never to leave or forsake us even while we are going through deep perils.
Teach us to wait on you, as you give us courage, strength, and faith, and patience while you work on our hearts letting us know that you love us so much and that you are performing a great work in us as a potter works with his clay. Thank you Father in Jesus’ name for the transformation that you are creating.
