Welcome to “Insights on Healing a weekly Podcast.” Today’s Episode is entitled: “ What to do or to whom do you turn when you are stressed.” You will learn how to pray to God and utilize options to relieve your stresses.
My name is Joan M. Blake, author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing includes the reading of Scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books, and interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.
The purpose of this podcast is to provide content that brings emotional healing and restoration to those who are dealing with trauma and other difficult life issues. I pray as you listen to this episode that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for. In today’s podcast I will discuss scriptures from the books of Romans, Galatians, and 1 John 1 to help you to have a fruitful life.
What makes you stress? You can be stressed from:
- Marriage issue
- Caring for a son/daughter with special needs
- Ministering to the Lost
- Working on a job to put food on your table
- Keeping up with housework
The fact of the matter is, you are stressed and you need a plan to handle your stresses.
- Your first plan is to take time to pray to God every morning before you start your day. A prayer life that starts the first thing in the morning and the last thing before you go to bed would help you tremendously as you call on God to be with you, to cover and protect you, and guide you during the day and night. Even Jesus during His earthly ministry, took time out of his busy schedule to pray and be in touch with the Father. At times, he went away by himself, to be alone (Matthew 14:23; Mark 6:46–47; John 6:15).
- Have a workout plan to help your body regenerate itself. I work out on my elliptical for twenty-five minutes daily, and at the same time, listen to either the Bible or Christian Music which makes me feel refreshed. You can too. If you do not have a workout machine and are not close to a YMCA or workout center, go to google.com and find a workout that is high impact or low impact which is best suited for you. You may chose to walk for twenty minutes in your neighborhood.
- Change your eating habits. Strive to eat healthy so you can feel a sense of vitality, Make an appointment with your Nutritionist to get help with what to eat and your portions to eat. With the help of your nutritionist, make a plan for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and begin to put it into action. Also include smoothies or juicing into your plans as well.
- If you are able, take short weekend breaks. I have done weekend retreats in the past and they were unforgettable moments. Go to listen to music or anything that you enjoy with a friend.
- Lastly, when you have done all of the above, stand firm in the Lord. a. Remember that Jesus came to lighten your darkness and to free you from your stresses. When God introduced Him during His baptism with John the Baptist, He said “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17 In John 8:12, Jesus says, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” Although you are experiencing stressful times, Jesus promises that you will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.
b. Jesus came to free you from the burdens you carry and to give you hope, so cast all your burdens on Him and have rest. 1 Peter 5:7
In Matthew 11:28-30 He says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Let us Pray for your needs:
Father, we thank you that we can come in your presence with thanksgiving and joy for who you are and what you have done for us by sending your Son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we can have salvation. Lord, God, in response to your requests, we bring all of our stresses to you, marriage, caretaking stresses, job related stresses, household stresses and even Ministry stresses and we lay them at your feet. We pray now that every burden will be lifted and you will give us rest in the name of Jesus., Amen.
