Narrative: Welcome to Insights on Healing Podcast. Our Episode title is, “What Makes You Feel Overwhelmed?” You will understand what makes you overwhelmed and how to deal with this feeling.
I am Joan M. Blake, an author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing Podcast includes the reading of scripture, praying, reading from one of my books, or telling stories or interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.
The purpose of this podcast is to provide emotional healing and restoration to stay at home moms and working mothers who have had a difficult past and are currently experiencing difficulties. A focal point of this podcast is reflecting on the scripture verses and praying for my audience. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for.
- Let us begin with some of the main reasons that cause you to feel overwhelmed.
A person can feel overwhelmed for a number of reasons including when your relationship is not going well, when a family member is ill, when you are a caregiver, or when you are overworked. You tend to feel overwhelmed when your plates are too full or the things you have placed before you to do are so much that they make you feel overwhelmed. I feel overwhelmed working in my business and caring for my daughter. I know in my circumstances that I need help.
- What are you seeking that causes you to feel overwhelmed?
- You want an answer right now for all the issues you face. The issues have become so important and too much for you to handle. Most importantly, you feel that you should handle them all at once and find an answer for all tasks immediately, instead of taking things one step at a time. Understanding that it takes time to handle or heal from issues we are faced with will help us when we feel overwhelmed.
- You are not communicating with God sufficiently about the issue or issues you are facing believing that you can handle them alone. Communicating with God at the beginning would have prevented you from being overwhelmed or feeling anxious and wanting answers to your problems now rather than later.
- When you face all the problems at once, you realize that they are bigger than you thought they were, you feel anxious, and completely overwhelmed and drained just thinking about them.
- You do not have the right solutions for your problems. God is your guide who leads you in the right path, gives you wisdom, strength, and courage to move forward and be successful. When you and I follow our Lord’s leading, we tend to handle one task at a time, we are calmer and with a clear mind, and vision, we make decisions about the issues we face step by step. Those decisions may require getting the needed help for a business or the person you are caring for that may lighten your load, being in counseling for that relationship that is making you feel overwhelmed, or taking a vacation so you can get the needed rest.
- You lose hope when you feel overwhelmed. Romans 5:5 states “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” God’s love is His promise that He has made to us, his faithfulness that He will make everything right when we pray to Him and trust Him by faith that these things will come to pass. You see when we pray to God, we hear his voice as he guides us and leads us to victory, God is the author and finisher of our faith. He already has a plan for each of us. We understand this plan and can put it into action when we hear His voice. Hope is the key to life. Without hope there is no reason for living.
Let us pray:
Father, we come to you knowing that you are the answer to all of our problems. We honor and magnify your name for your name is above every name in heaven and on the earth. You are king of kings and Lord of Lords, merciful, faithful, and a loving God. You said in Jer. 33:3 to call unto you and you will answer us and tell us great and unsearchable things that we do not know. Lord, God, we now come to you in faith, believing that you will make a way for us out of no way, that you will lighten our load Lord, so we do not feel overwhelmed. We pray for those who are overwhelmed with problems that we did not mention, those dealing with relationship issues, those who are ill, poor, imprisoned, and homeless. We also pray for peace in the world in Jesus’ name, Amen.
