Welcome to “Insights on Healing a weekly Podcast.” We are continuing our series on faith and today’s Episode is “What is faith and how to apply faith in your lives.” You will learn how to apply faith in your life when you are experiencing trials.
My name is Joan M. Blake, author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing includes the reading of Scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books, and interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.
The purpose of this podcast is to provide content that brings emotional healing and restoration to those who are dealing with trauma and other difficult life issues. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for.
Definition of faith: Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
We believe with confidence that we are going to receive something that we cannot see but we know at some point that we will receive it or we know that God is going to work on our behalf and we wait patiently for God to move.
By Faith we believe that God made the world and everything in it.
By Faith, we believe that Jesus was our sacrificial lamb who died to save us from our sins once and we no longer have to rely on the blood of bulls and rams as an annual sacrifice. We also believe by faith that it is by grace that we are saved and this grace was a gift granted by God. We are not condemned but justified.
Without Faith, it is impossible to please God, because when you approach God, you must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. (Heb 11:6)
Examples of People who applied Faith to their lives and received the promises.
The Book of Hebrews, gives us a list of people who received their blessings and those who did not live long enough to receive them. Let us look at Abraham, His wife Sarah, and Moses. I encourage you to read other stories that Hebrews 11 listed.
- The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
2 “I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.[a]
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you . Abraham did not think or reasoned what he should do, He took his wife and went to the country God showed him.
- Abraham’s wife Sarah had passed childbearing age and although she first had doubts, trusted God and gave birth to a son named Isaac.
- God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac and tested him to see if he would obey God and although he took his son to kill him, God stopped him when he was about to slay his own son. He trusted God and knew by faith that God was able to raise Him up.
- By faith, Moses’ parents hid him and Pharoah’s daughter found him and nurtured him as her own child but when Moses grew up, he refused to be the son of Pharoah’s daughter , choosing to suffer affliction that his own people were suffering. Now we know that God chose Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt.
Why do we need Faith in our lives?
- Without “Faith” you will have no hope
You go through difficulties of life daily and see no way out of your dilemma. Regardless of what you do to get out of your situation you cannot, because you are depending on yourselves to do this, but it is not about you. You cannot help yourselves. You fail to realize that the God of the Universe is bigger than your problems and that He can make a way for you. God is Almighty, the Creator of the Universe, the One who is in Control, who in the past has subdued Nations and Kings and made a way for His people. He is the author and finisher of your faith (Heb 12:2). He knows all about you.
- Without “ Faith” you will not strive to have purpose in life
You are making the problems of your life take over who you are and the purpose for which God has called you on this earth, so you are depressed, you feel lonely, discouraged, defeated, you have no zeal to do God’s will. You think you are not good enough to go through and accomplish the things you have planned. You are believing these lies but they are untrue.
- Without faith, you feel like giving up
You feel like throwing in the towel because you feel that you are no use to anyone. The going is so rough that you cannot take the stress and do God’s work at the same time. Jesus did not give up even when He was faced to the point of going to the cross. He knew what He had to do. He had to finish His father’s business and make a way for us sinners.
- Without faith you will not see yourselves as God sees you
God sees you as complete in Him since you have been washed by the blood of Jesus. Whatever your past situation was, God does not see your past, He sees a new you. You have been restored, renewed, delivered, and set free. You are walking in the light of God’s love; you are heading the voice of God. Things are working out for you. God is giving you a new chance at life
- Without faith you will not understand you will not understand that God is calling you to commune with him.
When you commune with God, you will find strength, hope, motivation, zeal to live again and to hope again. God wants all your focus to be on him and not on your problems. When you focus on Him, you will then spend time alone with God, you will go to Him not begging him for things, because He knows what you need rather than what you want. He wants you to have an intimate relationship with Him, to worship Him, praise Him and thank Him for who He is. When you worship God, praise him, and thank Him and have an intimate relationship with God, you are looking up to God, the awesome God of the Universe, who can do exceedingly, abundantly more than you can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20)
- Without faith, you will not have a desire to become part of a community of believers. When you are part of the body of Christ, you understand what it means to belong, and share and hope with others
- Without faith you will not strive for a happier and fulfilled life. You will do whatever it takes to improve yourself, engage with others, find peace of mind, lift yourself up to stay positive and not give up. God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to set you free from all your sins and the worries that you may have.
Let us pray:Father, We magnify your name; we give you the highest praise because you are worthy to receive all of our praises, honor, and the glory that belongs to you. We confess all our thoughts, words, and actions that are not pleasing to you and ask for your forgiveness. Father, we bring all the issues that we face in our lives. Lord, they are overwhelming and painful and know that only you can solve our problems, so we put them into your hands and pray that you will make a way for us, Lord. We pray in the name of Jesus that you will remove every stumbling block that prevents us from moving forward and doing the things you have purposed in our lives. We pray that you will increase our zeal, our confidence, our motivation and our hope in you in Jesus’ name, Amen.
