What does it mean to be patient? I am referring to how immediate family members communicate to each other.
I do not know about you, but I feel sometimes that I have to speak and let my family know how I feel about certain things. I believe communication is key in a marriage as well as in a family. It is important to have family conversations so everyone can be on the same page. Unfortunately, when communication breaks down and things get out of hand, one family member may tend to communicate out of anger and his/her words may not be pleasing to the ear and may illicit a response that is more damaging than the former.
The Bible states in James 1:19-20-Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person hbe quick to hear, islow to speak, jslow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. We should study the word of God that states that we should be patient which leads to being slow to speak, which eliminates anger and builds up righteousness which is patience toward others.
In Colossians 1:10-11, the Bible states: “We’re praying this so that you can live lives that are worthy of the Lord and pleasing to him in every way: by producing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God; by being strengthened through his glorious might so that you endure everything and have patience.” In everything we are to live to please God and that means being patient regardless of what you and I experience from day to day.
In summary, when things at home do not go the way you want them, be patient and slow to speak, and if you do, handle your situation with love knowing that your actions should reflect a life pleasing to God.
