Welcome to “Insights on Healing a weekly Podcast.” We are beginning a series on faith and today’s Episode is “What Do You Have that God can use” You will learn to look within and find your gifts and determine what God can use to help you so you can help others.
My name is Joan M. Blake, author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing includes the reading of Scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books, and interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.
The purpose of this podcast is to provide content that brings emotional healing and restoration to those who are dealing with trauma and other difficult life issues. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for. I will be reading from 2 kings 4: 1-7 from the New International Version of the Bible and reflect on these verses and give some answers on how to find your gifts from within and use them for God’s glory.
2 kings 4: 1-7 NIV
The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”
2 Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”
“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”
3 Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. 4 Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”
5 She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. 6 When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.”
But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.
7 She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”
What do we glean from this passage? This passage tells of a miracle, what God can do in the life of a believer, one who lives by faith.
- The woman knew she had a debt that needed to be paid or her two sons would be taken
- She spoke to the prophet to know what to do next
- The prophet asked her what she had and she told him she had oil
- The prophet advised her to obtain vessels from her neighbors, fill the jars, sell the oil, pay the debt and leave the remaining monies to live on
- She did so.
The questions you need to ask yourself are:
- What do I have that God can use?
- What step of faith do I need to take to help myself so I can help others?
- These questions must be dealt with regardless of the situations you face. You may be homeless, depressed, lonely, brokenhearted, abandoned, angry, mentally unstable. There is hope for you because there is something in the inside of you that God can use for His glory.
Let us pray.
Father, I praise and thank you for your greatness and your mercy. I bring my listeners before you Lord, with all of their situations. Some of them are lonely, depressed, brokenhearted, abandoned, mentally unstable, homeless, alcoholics, in prison, and no where to turn. I pray in the name of Jesus, that you will look down from heaven and move on their behalf Lord, God and show them how by faith, they can look inside themselves and see the greatness that they have within and step out of their situations and find help so they can succeed. Thank you Lord for bringing them out and helping them for you get the glory out of their lives, in Jesus name, Amen.
