The purpose of this podcast is to provide content that brings emotional healing and restoration to stay at home and working mothers who are dealing with trauma and other difficult life issues from their past. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for. In today’s podcast I will discuss the importance of waiting on God and how you should wait on him. We will show you how Hannah in the Bible waited on God.
Questions:
Have you had a reason to wait on God for a child, for a new house, for healing, for acceptance into a college, for a new job, for revitalization?
What does it mean to wait on God?
Waiting on God doesn’t mean to sit idly by. Waiting means to hope, to anticipate, and to trust.
Hannah had a reason for waiting on God-She was barren-could not have children. She suffered emotional pain from knowing this.
- She applied her faith by consistently praying and trusting in God. In addition to her consistent prayer, she worshiped and sacrifice to God at Shiloh where her husband Elkanah gave her a double portion because she was barren
- She was patient through prayer even when it seemed that God would never answer her prayer
- Hannah was humble; although she experienced a lot of adversity in her life. She was mocked by her rival for being barren, yet, she never lashed out in anger at her rival.
- She was meek, she endured her pain with a quiet spirit, yet with a persistency towards God knowing what she wanted from Him and by faith she would receive what she wanted from God.
- She experienced long-suffering for years, surrendered and submitted her cares to God and vowed to trust Him. She never gave up hope. God did not chastise her for being discontent. God understands our feelings.
- She kept God’s commandments loving God and depending on Him
- She endured to the end. She told God she wanted a son and if she did, she promised to dedicate his life to the service of God. Samuel was born. (1 Samuel 1:11). She believed what she had asked for would come to past. Her words are prophetic. In 1 Samuel 2:8, she said these words: He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.
Let us Pray for your needs:
Father, I bring my listeners to you. They have prayed for healing for their families, for that new house, for that new job and for other areas in their lives. I pray that you will help them with faith, patience, trust, and persistency to go after you and depend on you for all of their needs in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
