This is the scripture verse that I quoted at our daughter’s wedding. I wanted to recite this before reading the scripture verses for which I was assigned. I discussed the above verse with our daughter and her bridesmaids and they felt that I should say anything that the Lord had led me to say. I felt compelled to say the scripture that was on my mind. I thought of the many months when we were all busy planning the wedding, then, to behold our beautiful daughter and her husband standing next to each other. Everything went well. That was the day that the Lord had made, and yes, we did rejoice in it.
Do not think for a moment, though, that one must feel good to rejoice. In 1 Thessalonians 4:13, the Apostle Paul encourages us to rejoice, pray continually, giving thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God concerning us. This means that you can pray, give thanks, and rejoice during difficult times. Most importantly, be grateful, for you are in the land of the living. Thank God for keeping you. You have opportunities to live in newness of life, the hope that God has for you (Romans 12:2). Concentrate on how far the Lord has brought you. Forgive those who have caused you pain. You cannot walk freely with a load on your shoulder. Free yourself from every weight which only hinders you from walking into your purpose. Give the problems to God. He knows what you are going through for He is always with you (Psalm 139). He will help you through this difficult journey. He will make a way for you (John 14:6). God loves you. He showed his love for you by sending His Son to die on the cross and pay your sin debt in full (John 3:16).. He wants to give you total freedom so you can live an abundant life. This is a reason to rejoice!
If you are not a Christian and will like to receive your Savior today, say this simple prayer:
Father God,
Thank you for sending your Son Jesus to die in my place.
I confess and repent of my sins
And ask for your forgiveness, Lord.
By faith, I accept Jesus as my Savior.
I believe that He died to pay the penalty for my sin,
And that He rose again.
Thank you Father for the gift of salvation and eternal life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
