Staying Focused in Today’s World

The war in Ukraine, the ongoing Pandemic, and news about the incident that took place at the Oscars’ ceremony have dominated the news and impacted the entire world.

We see the aftereffects of the war and the horrific scenes as individuals flee to safety from Ukraine, and the actions that Moscow has taken against these innocent victims are overwhelming. We know it will only be with God’s grace that this war will end. The Pandemic has slowed down a bit, and the Board has dealt with the incident at the Oscars. What should we do in the meantime? We should pray without ceasing and stay focused.

Praying and staying focused is important. The evil one wants to distract us from what we are doing, and we will not submit to his will-only to God’s. We are to continue to love God with all our minds, praise, and worship him, love one another, pray for one another, and help one another. During the Pandemic, it has been a bit difficult reaching out to extended families and friends, but we can call or zoom, and reach out to those who are in need. I do not know about you, but I am happy that God, my savior, and Lord, saved my life from Covid 19 and I am grateful for his kindness and love.

What can you and I give God in exchange for his kindness and love? We can change our attitudes and become who God wants us to be. God wants us to apply the fruit of the spirit in our households, to our extended family, to friends, and to others. The fruit of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22-25). When we apply the fruit of the Spirit, we become vessels of God bringing change to others. I have been vocal in our household, but I have decided that being silent sometimes creates a more peaceful atmosphere. Think about the fruit of the Spirit and decide how you could apply one fruit to your life.

May God Bless you
