The word “rest” signifies an attitude of total trust that a believer should have in God. When you rest in God, you are not anxious about life’s issues, because you have entrusted every area of your life to Jesus Christ. He is the One who fights your battles (2 Chron. 20:15).
When we seek God on a certain issue, we continue to feel anxious, as if God did not hear our prayers. We question whether God can and will fix our problems, when He will fix them, and how He will fix them. Resting in God means leaving all the details of our lives in His hands.
We leave things in God’s hands because He is the author and finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2 KJV). He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning, and the ending (Rev 1:8 NIV). In Him, we live, and move, and have our being (Acts 17:28). He is the One Who knew us before we were born and Who knows our destiny beforehand. He knows what is best for us. So, that problem that you have asked God to handle, He may not fix it in the way you intended or when you wanted Him to fix it. God may solve your problem another way, or He may decide not to solve it. Yet, whether He answers our prayers or not, God remains sovereign.
As a special-needs mom and servant of the Lord, I struggle sometimes with tiredness, but I know too well the need to rest in God and leave all the decisions to him. I have been taking time to rest to calm my spirit and see life from God’s perspective. Jesus himself, rested, prayed, and fasted (Matt.4:1-2), so He could be in touch with His Father knowing that His purpose was to do God’s will. We too, must rest in God and know his will for our lives. May God continue to bless you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
