Rays of Sunlight-Reminders of God’s Love and Hope

On the weekend of March 21, 2014, I took a much-needed personal retreat. I took this retreat as I always have, to reflect, pray, and hear from God. For the past few months, I have been wrapped up with daily issues of life that have resulted in my feeling tired and weary.  I needed to take an inventory of myself to determine where I was on my life journey. The Bible tells us that Jesus took time away from the crowds to pray to the Father (Luke 4:1).

I cried out to God for my family and others and laid all of my insecurities and failures at the Master’s feet, for He is my burden bearer (Matthew 11:28-30). After praying, I looked out of the window and rays of sunlight filled and stayed in my room.  At that very moment, I felt God’s loving assurance. The rays symbolized His outstretched arms beckoning me to come and continually lay all of my burdens at his feet. The sunlight was a reminder of His presence which shatters the plans of the enemy and gives me hope and joy (Psalm 16:11).

God was reminding me that He loved me regardless of how I felt (Ephesians 2:4). He loved you and me before the world began.  He will never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5; Joshua 1:5). He will remain faithful to His word (Psalm 119:86). All we have to do is trust in the supremacy of our God. He is not just another friend. He is the Creator of the World; He is the Beginning and the Ending (Isaiah 40:28; Revelation 1:8). He supplies all of our needs (Philippians 4:19). He gives us strength when we are weak and fights our battles (2 Co.12:9; 2 Chronicles 32:8). Let us not forget the rays of sunlight, reminders of God’s love and hope.
