Welcome to Insights on Healing, a weekly podcast. Today’s Episode is entitled:”Provision and Healing.” You will learn how God miraculously provides and heals in the midst of difficult situations.
I am Joan M. Blake, author, and I am your host. The purpose of Insights on Healing podcast is to provide content that brings inner healing and restoration to individuals dealing with trauma and difficult life situations.
Insights on healing podcast includes the reading of scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books or interviewing individuals who found purpose through the healing power of God. I pray that God would bless you and give you hope.Today’s podcast is taken from the books of 2 kings 4:1-7 where God provides a miracle for a woman who owed a debt and John 4: 46-53 where Jesus healed the son of a royal official who was sick.
I will be reading these scripture verses from the NIV and will reflect on each situation.
2 Kings 4:1-7
New International Version
The Widow’s Olive Oil
The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”
Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”
“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”
Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”
She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.”
But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.
She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”
Reflect: Here we see and understand the miracles that God can perform when we exercise faith. The woman did not realize she had an asset (oil) that God can expand and she can sell to pay off her debts. What do you have in the way of gifts that God is waiting to use for His glory?
John 4:46-53
Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.
“Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”
The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
“Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.”
The man took Jesus at his word and departed. While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, “Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.”
Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household believed.
Reflect: This is yet another healing that Jesus performed. Do you or one of your family need God’s healing. Put God to the test, pray, believe, and exercise faith in God’s ability to heal even in this pandemic period where so many are dying.
Let us pray: Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before you and believe that you are able to heal for you opened the eyes of the blind, you healed the leopard, you healed the woman with the issue of blood, you even raised Lazarus from the dead. You are the same God, Yesterday, today and forever, and we pray that you will heal those who are sick in Jesus’ name and bring an end to the virus.
