I lay on my bed, my husband was not there, he had gone out of town for a funeral for a family member. I had prayed this way before, but I felt that this time I was pressing in, praying to God, and pleading with Him, and then I heard a song in my spirit, “Mold me, melt me, fashion me into the person you want me to be. As I prayed, I rolled from side to side asking God to do those things in my life. I wanted a breakthrough in my life; I was tired of the same old ways. I was tired of doing things to please God, now I wanted to please God from my heart.
In Isaiah 64:6-7, we learned that our righteous acts are like filthy rags, we shrivel up like a leaf and our sins sweep us away. We do not call upon God for He has hidden His face from us. However, verse 8 gives us hope as the writer reminds God that He is the potter, and we are the clay. Sometimes, we need God’s molding, melting, fashioning to bring us back to who He wants us to be.
In Jeremiah 18:1-6, the word came from God to Jeremiah to go down to the potter’s house and he would hear the words of the Lord. Jeremiah realized the work that the potter did was marred in his hands, so he made another vessel that was suitable to Him . Jeremiah heard the word of the Lord, “Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hands so are ye in my hand.” This example is a clear indication of how God continues to mold us until we are shaped according to his purpose.
