Jesus Heals the Demonic and Many More Diseases (Luke 4:31-38)

Welcome to Insights on Healing, a weekly podcas..Today’s Episode is entitled: Jesus Heals the Demonic and Many More Diseases. You will learn the extent of Jesus’ healing.

Today’s podcast is taken from the book of Luke 4:verses 31-37 where Jesus heals a man with an unclean spirit and Luke 4: 38-40 where Jesus healed Simon mother in law who had a fever and healed many with various sicknesses.

I will be reading these scripture verses from the NIV and will reflect on each situation.

Luke 4: 31-37

Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit

Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people. 

They were amazed at his teaching, because his words had authority.

In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice

“Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

“Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly. “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.

All the people were amazed and said to each other, “What words these are! With authority and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!” 

And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area.

Reflection: Here Jesus healed a man with an impure spirit or demonic interference. Today, many have attested to complete deliverance from demonic or impure spirits. All things are possible with God.

Luke 4: 38-40

Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her.

So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.

At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. 

Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah.

Reflection:

Jesus healed Simon’s mother in law with a high fever by rebuking the fever. Jesus also laid  hands on those with various kinds of sicknesses and healed them. Here again,  demons came out of many people.

Let us pray. Father, I pray in the name of Jesus for those who are sick with covid 19, that you will touch them and raise them up  as you did with Simon’s mother in law who was sick with a fever. I pray in the name of Jesus, that you would heal those with various diseases including mental, heart disease, cancers, and those who are on the brink of dying. I pray Father, that you will provide for those who are in need and I pray wholeheartedly for our nation in Jesus’ name, Amen.
