Narrator:
Welcome to Insights on Healing, a weekly podcast. Today’s Episode is entitled: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” You will learn the way to God is through Jesus Christ, His Son.
I am Joan M. Blake, author, and I am your host. The purpose of Insights on Healing podcast is to provide content that brings inner healing and restoration to individuals dealing with trauma and difficult life situations.
Insights on healing podcast includes the reading of scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books or interviewing individuals who found purpose through the healing power of God. I pray that God would bless you and give you hope.Today’s podcast is taken from St Mark’s Gospel chapter 2: 1- 12 where Jesus heals a paralytic whose friends used faith by getting the man to Jesus through the roof.
I will be reading these scripture verses from the NIV and will reflect on the situation.
2 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
Reflection:
We could imagine the crowd of people in Peter’s house where Jesus was staying in Capernaum. People stood outside and by the door to hear Jesus preached and it was impossible for those carrying the paralyzed man to pass through the door. They thought of a way-removing the tiles on the roof and letting him down on his bed so Jesus can heal him. Jesus was impressed with their faith, and calling the man, “Son” said “Your sins are forgiven.” This is how he regards you and me as his sons and daughters and is willing to forgive us of our sins. He was going to the depth of this man’s problems, his sin, and once he forgave the man’s sin, then the man would be healed. However, some teachers of the law were not convinced that Jesus who could sense the thoughts of people, could forgive their sins, but the fact that Jesus healed the paralyzed man by telling him to get up, take up his mat and go home, was proof that He had the divine power to do so. We learned today how compassionate Jesus is and how he regards you and me as his son and daughter and is willing to forgive us our sins.
Do you have something to tell God about today? Has there been an issue that has been on your mind for a long time, and you want to release it? Find a quiet place wherever you are and tell God all about it. Maybe you want to confess something that you have done, now is the time to confess it, renounce it, and ask God to forgive you.
Tell God that you want to receive Jesus into your heart, as Lord of your life, that you believe that died and rose again, paying the price for your sin so you can be justified. You see there is nothing that you can do to receive this justification, for God’s action was done by grace, which is God’s unconditional love. God sent his son, Jesus, to die on the cross and shed his blood so that you could receive salvation and eternal life. Your sin debt has been paid in full. Without the shedding of blood, there can be no remission of sin. Also in John 14:6, Jesus states that “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. “ I encourage you to take this step because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
God, I pray for every man, woman, and child listening to this podcast. I pray that you will understand that God loves you and that there is nothing too difficult for God to do in your life. I pray that you will go to God in prayer and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
I want to thank you for listening to this Podcast. May God bless you always.
