How to Seek God

For the past year, I have been going around in circles doing a little bit here and a little bit there, but nothing significant. I have been praying, reading my Bible, and writing blogs. After all, we are living in a pandemic and you would think I would use this precious time to seek the Lord more. What does it mean to seek God?

In 2 Chronicles 7:14, the Lord God spoke clearly, “If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and heal their land.” God expects us to be humble before Him. How can we be prideful and approach a humble God? God wants us to pray diligently because when we pray, we can hear from a holy God. I believe seeking God’s face is worshiping, praising, and crying out to God who deserves our praises. As we seek God’s face, we enter a time of repenting, confessing, and renouncing areas in our lives that are not godly, and which block us from receiving God’s blessings. God has a plan for your life and mine. In Jeremiah 29:11, his plan is to give us a future and a hope.

Start with a journal and begin your journey with God.   As you read and study the Bible, jot down essential points that mean a lot to you. Write down areas of your life that you need to improve, such as anger, weariness, hopelessness, and compare them to what God says in the Bible. Pray, confess, and repent, and turn from those things; worship, and praise your God whose goodness led you to repentance (Rom. 2:4).
