Narrative: Welcome to Insights on Healing Podcast. Our Episode title is, “How to receive mercy from God. You will learn that God is ready to give you mercy when you humble your self and confess your sin.
I am Joan M. Blake, an author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing Podcast includes the reading of scripture, praying, reading from one of my books, or interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.
The purpose of this podcast is to provide content which brings emotional healing and restoration to mothers who have had a difficult past and are currently experiencing difficulties. A focal point of this podcast is reflecting on scripture verses and praying for my audience. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for.
Today, I am reading from Psalm 51: verses 1-13; I am reading from the NIV version of the Bible. Hear the word of God.
1Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
so that sinners will turn back to you.
Reflection:
David appears before God with a sorrowful heart because of the sin he committed against God. He acknowledges that he was born in sin even in his mother’s womb and know that his sin could only be removed by God who is compassionate and merciful towards us when we humble ourselves and confess our sin to him. He asked God to wash away his sin, create in him a clean heart, not abandoned him but restore the joy of his salvation so he could worship God in spirit and in truth and teach others along the way.
Let us pray:
Father, we come to you acknowledging you as the God of Gods and king of Kings, merciful in the heavens and the earth, and the God who answers our prayers. We have sinned against you and we come humbly before you because you are the only one who can heal us from sin and restore us to wholeness. We come asking you to wash us and make us clean again and restore our relationship that you had with us. Give us the strength to depend only on you for all things for you have the power to make changes in our lives and help us stay on track and keep us from the enemy’s control.
Father, in the name of Jesus, for the one who is under the control of the enemy, I speak deliverance now. I break the enemy’s hold over you and I cancel the plans that the enemy has for you. You will not bend to the enemy’s control. I decree that you will walk in newness of life and accomplish your purpose that God has for you to fulfill.
