Welcome to “Insights on Healing a weekly Podcast.” Today’s Episode is “How to Live to God” You will learn why you should live to God and the ways you should live that will be pleasing to God.
My name is Joan M. Blake, author, and I am your host. Insights on Healing includes the reading of Scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books, and interviewing individuals who found purpose in their lives through the healing power of God.
The purpose of this podcast is to provide content that brings emotional healing and restoration to those who are dealing with trauma and other difficult life issues. I pray as you listen to this episode, that God would bless you with inner strength, purpose, and provide you with the hope that you have been longing for. I will be reading from 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 from the New International Version of the Bible and reflect on these verses and give some answers on how to live for God.
Reading:
14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
- Explanation of 2 Cor 5:14 This verse means that we were considered dead under sin, with no hope at all, until God sent his Son Jesus to die in our place by paying the price for our sins. You see it was by grace that you and I have been rescued from our sinful state. Ephesians 2:8 states “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
Apostle Paul in Gal. 2:20 confirms this: 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Apostle Paul’s former life was a persecutor of Christians, and his life was transformed to a servant of God. You can read about this in Acts 9 while he was on the road to Damascus to persecute Christians, he encountered Jesus.
- Let us review 2 Cor. 5:15 which explains why we should live to God
2 Cor. 5:15 Verse 15 states that we should not live for ourselves but for him who died and rose again. Col 3:3 confirms this: 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Because we were dead in our trespasses and Christ took us out of this bondage we were in and rose again, the least we could do is to live to Him. Romans 14:8 confirms this and states: “For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.”
- Let’s look at the things that are not pleasing to God in Galatians 5:19-21
a)sexual immorality meaning sexuality between unmarried people
b) impurity means moral uncleanness through sensual thoughts, words, and deeds outside the sacred confines of marriage.
c)debauchery means behavior involving sex, drugs, alcohol, etc. that is often considered immoral.
d)idolatry means the worship of someone or something other than God as though it were God.
e) witchcraft; A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard,

h)drunkenness
i)orgies, and the like. an occasion when a group of people behave in a wild uncontrolled way, especially involving sex, alcohol, or illegal drugs:
I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
- What to do if you find yourself doing any of the above. You can overcome your faults by doing the following:
a) I suggest that you confess, repent, and ask God’s forgiveness for any or all of these things.
b) Accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior
c) If it is possible, seek a Bible believing Church which will help you maintain a life that is pleasing to God.
- Pray, worship, and study the Bible daily to be in tune with
God.
- Love God and others the way God loves you. When you do, you will have love and peace in your heart which are the fruit of the spirit.
- Follow God’s commandments to do good and that is pleasing to God.
- Obey those who are in authority over you, your actions will be pleasing to God.
- Husband and wife should live in agreement with each other. Pray for your marriage if that is not the case.
- Utilize Faith at all times because God is with you and fighting your battles. He will never leave or forsake you. (Joshua 1:5;Deut 31:8)We all go through hardship at times, but we must remember that God fights your battles. 2 Chronicles 20:15
Let us pray:
Father, you are Almighty, the great I am, the God of love and mercy, the God of all comfort, who comforts me when I am weak so I can comfort those with the comfort I have received from you. You are the God who provides for me, the One who bears my burdens, and the One who heals, delivers, and forgives my sins. I come before you today because I know You will not send me away empty handed.
I confess that I have sinned and acted in ways that are not pleasing to you, I repent of my actions, and I ask for your forgiveness in the name of Jesus.
Help me dear God to change my thought patterns and my ways so I do the things that are pleasing to you. Wash me and make me clean, I pray in the name of Jesus.
I desire to have an intimate relationship with you
And to invite Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior
I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior
The One who died on the cross and rose again,
Paying the penalty for my sins,
So I could have salvation and eternal life
I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you have sincerely prayed the sinner’s prayer
You have salvation and eternal life.
