I think of life as a process, a time of testing. God makes promises to you and me, but we go through doubts and uncertainties. God is not a man that he should lie (Numbers 23:19); God keeps his promises (Deuteronomy 7:9). However, we do not always exercise the patience to wait for God. Waiting seems difficult because we want God to act now, rather than later, but we must remember that God has the entire picture of our lives before Him. He is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) and knows the right timing for his promise to take effect. In Psalm 23, He is our shepherd, and we are His sheep, and we are to follow Him wherever he takes us. King David helps us to realize that even when we are in the valley, we can walk and rely totally on God because he is present with us. While we wait, we must activate our faith and believe God. He is testing us to see if we will trust him.
