Welcome to Insights on Healing, a weekly podcast. This Episode is entitled: God Encourages Us to Pray. You will learn the power of prayer in your life.
I am Joan M. Blake, author, and I am your host. The purpose of Insights on Healing podcast is to provide content that brings inner healing and restoration to individuals dealing with trauma and difficult life situations.
Insights on healing podcast includes the reading of scripture, praying for my audience, reading from one of my books or interviewing individuals who found purpose through the healing power of God. I pray that God would bless you and give you hope.Today’s podcast is taken from the book of Luke 18:verses 1-8, where we learned that we should go to God in prayer knowing that He listens and answers our prayers. Prayers are not answered according to our will, but to God’s will.
Let us go into the reading of Luke 18: 1-8 NIV
Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought.
And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, Grant me justice against my adversary.’ “For some time, he refused. But finally, he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!'”
And the LORD said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you; he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
Reflect: We see here that God used a parable of the unjust judge to show his disciples and us His children that we should pray to Him and not give up. He compared himself a just God to the unjust judge who got tired of the woman coming before him for justice against her adversaries and gave her what she wanted. If the unjust judge could do that for the woman, then God who is just would never turn us away.
Father, I pray for those who are sick with various diseases that you will heal them. I pray for those who have lost loved ones that you will comfort them. I pray for those who are in need of food and clothing that you will provide for them and I pray for those who are in prison that you will make a way for them. You have showed your people in Luke 18: 1-8, how to use the tool of prayer by bringing their needs to you Lord, for you will never turn them away. Thank you for listening and answering prayers in the name of Jesus, Amen.
